CA Boom 4

CA Boom is back with a great deal of exhibits in its Prefab Zone.

The first livinghome, designed by Ray Kappe, FAIA, will be included on the Friday, March 30, CA Boom Santa Monica Design & Architecture Tours.

An interesting take on the prefab scene

…i’m not seeing a hell of a lot being bought by savvy hedgefund managers or anyone else for that matter. the movement needs a clear leader i think, either an architect or buyer who goes on the today show and flaunts its coolness in her/his brand new assembled home, this movement need mass exposure.

Though the Iron Curtain no longer exists, the innumerable prefabricated concrete buildings that sprang up behind it still provide homes and workplaces for many millions of Eastern Europeans. This architectural legacy will be explored in a photographic exhibition that opens Monday, March 12, and a panel discussion the next day in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.
