Warmboard Radiant Heat Subfloor

Warmboard is a product that is going into a lot of new homes, both prefab and conventionally built.  The product integrates subfloor and a radiant heating system that allows builders to put down any hardwood, carpet, or tile flooring that they wish, in a way that they normally would.  The product has won accolades from green building enthusiasts as it significantly reduces the difficulty of installing radiant heating, a system that generally saves a considerable amount of energy when compared to forced air systems.

Rustic Reuse Cabin

Many buyers of modern prefab homes purchase them because of the fact that they deliver sustainable, modern architecture and the ease and convenience of a home that is easily constructed (if not assembled prior to delivery).  Paul and Scott Stankey, the people behind hive Modular, built the rustic reuse cabin over the course of 9 years at a total cost of $15,000.  One of the containers is used for sleeping while the other doubles as a kitchen and storage room.  Stankey claims, according to ReadyMade Magazine, that he hopes to eventually turn the design into a prefab cabin available for purchase through hive Modular.

IsThisLegit.com

tewks.net, the blog network to which PrefabUpdate belongs, recently launched IsThisLegit?, a blog that discusses IP infringement in depth and allows users to vote and discuss various cases that are in the news.  Granted, it’s quite different from modern prefab homes, but if you’re interested in that sort of thing, please do check it out.
