Curbed LA is reporting that Marmol Radziner, a preeminent prefab producer, is seeking to target a lower price point than their current one which is about $400/sq. ft. The blog reports that the new price point will be between 20-25% cheaper than what is currently on offer.

Michelle Kaufmann’s blog has an update on an exhibit of one of her homes in Chicago:
During my visit last week to the Smart Home: Green Wired exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, there was a lot of exciting work going on. The landscaping, side decking, roof decking, and permeable pavers for the driveway (which allow rainwater to pass through, thereby reducing runoff and it’s negative effects) were being installed, furnishings were being delivered, and the home automation system was getting wired.

Sustain Design Studio’s miniHome is a unique, perhaps even strange take on the longstanding (sometimes disdained) idea of the RV. The home is designed on wheels as all RVs are, though not necessarily designed for constant transport (which is done through towing). The designers concede that the structure handles on the road like a “pig”. However, as far as these types of structures go, it seems as though the miniHome could be quite comfortable and functional. The miniHome is now selling for $149,000
